Castle Strečno

The ruins of the Strecno castle are set right in a village Strecno which is well known as a significant archeological finding place. The inner part of the Gothic castle are from 14th century built on bases of the original castle. The first written reference are from age when the castle was a centre of feudal dominion. The settlement round the Srecno castle are from 16th century in Reneissance style. During the beggining of 15st century the castle was in the queen Barbora´s safekeeping. During the 17th century the castle changed into a hiding-place of the Thokolyovci. In 1698 the forces pulled down the settlement round the castle and castle buildings. But tourists are not disapponted- the Strecno castle have gone through a wide reconstruction and nowadays it is open to public.
